School Climate Plan
At Thomaston Public Schools, we are committed to ensuring that every student feels safe, respected, valued, and comfortable in their learning environment. No student should ever feel intimidated, threatened, or embarrassed due to another individual’s behavior based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or disability. Harassment of any kind is strictly prohibited.
Students are expected to treat their peers and all Thomaston Public Schools staff with courtesy and respect. Behaviors that are known to be offensive are unacceptable and must stop immediately when directed by a staff member.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to reinforce with their child(ren) the importance of reporting harassment—whether they experience it firsthand or witness it occurring—to a teacher, counselor, or school administrator. Maintaining a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment is a shared responsibility among students, families, and staff.
When Thomaston Public Schools becomes aware of incidents of harassment, administration will take appropriate action to address the behavior. All reports will be taken seriously, promptly investigated, and addressed in accordance with district policies, with disciplinary action applied when necessary to ensure a safe and supportive school climate for all.
